My First Blog

So here is my first blog for bexcapades. I chose this name because my name is Rebecca but I’m mostly known as Bex and as I will be posting about travelling it will often be about my escapades so to speak.

An escapade is generally defined as an act or incident involving excitement, daring or adventure which is what my aim in the immediate future is, adventuring.

An escapade is also used in the archaic sense to describe an escape from confinement or restraint which brings me on to the other purpose for this blog. I want to write about mental health. I’ve been up and down with anxiety and depression since 2012. I have got a working holiday visa for Australia for 2018 and I am using it as an opportunity to break out of my comfort zone and develop as a person, which should in turn help with my mental health.

I have never really been one for sharing my feelings with everyone around me, I’m the type to try and do things alone and once that becomes too much, I tend to only tell two or three people who are really close to me. This blog is a way for me to change that. To #breakthesilence. Over the last year or so I’ve spoken to more people about battling mental health challenges and in every single case they have told me either they, or someone close to them, has battled similar issues.

I am ready to share my experiences while also creating new ones in the form of travelling. Please feel free to subscribe if you might be interested in hearing more!

  6. Well Bec out of all the things you have accomplished, this makes me most proud. To speak openly about mental health issues when every part of you screams ‘why would anyone be interested?’ Is incredibly brave.
You are going to have the time of your life. Yes, there will be days when it will be hard, but you will rise above and the experience will enhance your life endlessly.
Keep us posted and lots of pics. And remember Faith is contagious. If you believe in yourself, others can’t help but believe in you.
    Have fun.

    1. Thank you Carol, I’ve gotten to the point now where even if some people were to put me down it wouldn’t be as bad as a few years ago. I’ve got so many people who genuinely care about me & that is honestly worth more than anyone could comprehend! I’ll be keeping up with all of your life coaching and positive vibes! X
